2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper (or seasonings of your choice)
1 1/2 cups milk (I use skim)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (you can use less if you use a sharp cheddar)
- Melt the butter in a saucepan.
- Stir in flour and seasonings. Stir with a wooden spoon. Cook until evenly combined.
- After the butter and flour are combined and no lumps remain, slowly add the milk. Stir constantly.
- Cook and stir over medium heat until thick and bubbly. The bubbles should be across the entire surface.
- Cook 1 minute longer and turn heat to low. Add cheese and stir until melted.
- Serve on top of veggies or potatoes.
